Alas Pilipinas girls, composed of junior high school players from different programs and provinces who only had weeks to prepare, qualified for next year’s FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship in August in Chile after outlasting Thailand, 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22, for a fifth place finish in the 2nd AVC Asia Women’s U16 Volleyball Championship on Saturday here at Prince Hamzah Sports Hall.
